One of the interesting developments among the exiles was the way they formed an alternative community within a foreign context. They continued to be part of the Babylonians and yet were set apart. Today we'll explore what it means to be an exile who is part of the Kingdom of God.

    Singing the Songs of Zion in a Foreign Land.
    In Psalm 137 the Psalmist is in exile and asked to sing one of their songs about the greatness of their home land. He asks the question, "How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land?" When we are in exile we need to grieve but we also need to see what opportunities God might be affording. Today we'll consider what God might be up to by moving the church into exile.

It was a time of disorientation as well as sanctified imagination as Israel discovered what it meant to be the People of God in exile. Many believe that the motif of exile is applicable to the present Canadian context. Today we will explore what it means to be in exile.
