In Genesis 28:16 we read, “When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, ‘Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.'” It is quite possible that Jacob’s judgement about the place where he was – his insight that God was there – might also be our judgement about our own place in our neighbourhoods. We’ll consider this possibility today.
