Job Title: Associate Pastor for Children and Family Ministries

Role Type: Part-Time, permanent – 20 hours per week

Benefits: Enrolment in Canadian Baptists benefits program, including health, dental, and wellness benefits, and enrolment in our pension plan after 3 months of probationary period with a 6% match on contributions, starting 7.5 days’ Vacation/year (pro-rated 15 days). Status: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada; NBBC is not in the position to support a work permit process for any applicant outside of Canada

Job Summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for providing opportunities for bridges to be built between North Burlington Baptist Church (NBBC) and the children and families in the church and in the surrounding community. Reports to: Senior Pastor and church board and elders (overall).

Requirements: The successful candidate will agree to NBBC’s statement of faith, core values, and will agree with NBBC’s theological statements and lifestyles documents. A police check will be required and staff are required to attend NBBC services, as able.

Core Areas of Responsibility:
Midweek Program

·         Provide oversight and direction for 'Kid's Club' (the children's portion of a midweek program), designed to be one of the bridges built between NBBC and the surrounding community.

·         Provide programming for children from grades l-6. Depending on the enrolment, volunteer availability and interest, and nursery/pre-school as needed.

·         Provide oversight for NBBC’s midweek youth program grades 6-12 and manage NBBC’s Youth Programs & Media Coordinator.

·         Provide coaching of Volunteers for the midweek program

·         Select curriculum

·         Oversee any outreaches and performances which involve the children from the midweek program (Christmas/Easter).

Outreach

·         Plan outreach opportunities to establish and continue contact with those within the community. (The number of events would depend upon the available time)

·         Provide opportunities on-site and off, for those within NBBC to connect with our community. This may include working with Summer Students.

·         Recruit volunteers

·         Make sure adequate promotion is done prior to the events

·         Create a contact list to be used in follow-up and future outreaches

·         Work with Summer Students in providing oversight and direction to a week long Summer Comp for grade school children.

Children’s Ministry

·         Provide oversight and direction for NBBC’s Sunday morning children and youth programming including nursery, pre-school, K-12.

·         Recruit and manage volunteers for the different groups

·         Provide coaching of Volunteers

·         Select curriculum

·         Oversee any performances which involve the children from the midweek program (Christmas/Easter).

·         Manage NBBC’s Youth Programs & Media Coordinator in their work with students in grades 6-12

Administration

·         Help to organize and facilitate the communication required to maintain effective ministry.

·         Attention to detail

·         Institute processes to ensure consistent, ongoing communication (primarily internal)

·         Fostering communication between the various groups of volunteers and leadership.

·         Fostering communication between the community families and church regarding events beyond the midweek program.

·         Provide feedback / status reports on a regular basis (ie congregational meetings)

·         Attend weekly staff meetings

·         A degree in children’s ministry, education, social work or social services is preferred.
